Join Lucinda in conversation and celebration of her new book, Reimagining Death: Stories and Practical Wisdom for Home Funerals and Green Burials. Lucinda will read from her book and share stories and inspiring information about the gifts of caring for our own dead once again, in natural and creative ways that care for the earth as well. There are exciting new ecological options for disposition of our bodies happening right here in Washington, and Lucinda will update us on those options, and offer ways we can build community with each other and the natural world when we die.
Lucinda Herring has lived on Whidbey Island for over thirty years. She, along with others in our community, began quietly caring for loved ones after death in the 1990’s. She is an interfaith minister, home funeral and green burial consultant/guide and educator, and a green licensed funeral director in the state of Washington. Her consulting work helps individuals and families create Advance After-Death Care Directives, the next step beyond an Advance Health Care Directive. Lucinda has developed this support after years of seeing how important it is to plan ahead, especially if one wants more alternative and natural after death care, such as home funerals and green burials.
