A poem slips its hand into yours, accompanies you
through what is difficult, unknown and terrifying.
Its conversation takes you to a softer place and
laughs and cries with you.
During this time of isolation, poems carry no virus. They can be with you in your kitchen, your workshop, on any surface if you allow them entry into the center of your hearts. And we can walk together safely with poems for comfort and healing.
Thick Nhat Hanh says “If you are alone you may sink into the river of suffering, but if you have a community of practice to help carry you and you allow it to embrace your pain and sorrow, you will float.”
Poems are a universal community of language that speaks directly to the essence of who we are and to our enduring spirits. They nourish us in the vicissitudes of our lives and speak to all aspects of human emotions. Their wisdom gives us the strength that already belongs to us. The drop-in circle after will give us a chance to share any of it that we wish to share.
From 2-2:20 (PDT), Judith Adams, Washington State Humanities speaker and accomplished poet herself, will read selected poems. At 2:20, you can feel free to drop off or stay online with Diana Lindsay, co-founder of Healing Circles Langley and Global, and Judith for a drop-in healing circle and conversation.
