“…Poetry has redemptive power for me, as it does for millions of people. Poems have provided life jackets to keep me from drowning, ballast to keep me from ascending to altitudes where there’s not enough oxygen to support life, and maps to keep me from getting lost in the wilderness….” Parker J Palmer
We will to stock up the shelves of our Poetry Apothecary with poems that comfort and heal. Come and join us to help weigh, measure and distill poems for their healing properties so we can store each one in our apothecary. Our first theme was “aging”. Bring poems that have helped you, that perhaps have companioned you through the ups and downs of life. In subsequent meetings we will collectively decide on other themes, such as loneliness, loss, overwhelm, wonder, the healing power of nature, despondency, fragility, forgiveness and inspiration. We will mine the storehouse of poetic literature and we will also look at poems which you may have written yourself as a way of finding resolve.
We meet 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.
